Dan Salvato is the creator of Doki Doki Literature Club! and founder of Team Salvato.
Prior to the announcement of Doki Doki Literature Club!, Dan Salvato was best known in the Super Smash Bros. Melee community as a semi-retired Link player and modder. Mods he created included 20XXTE, a quality-of-life modification for use in tournaments, as well as UCF, a modification which made different controllers act more consistently.
Prior to these, he also worked on Project M, a modification of Super Smash Bros. Brawl which aimed to make it play more similarly to Super Smash Bros. Melee. In Act 2, the splash text which normally warns young or easily disturbed players on the title screen can randomly change to one of several different phrases. One such phrase is "PM died for this," which - though PM appears to be the initials of an individual - actually refers to Project M.
Dan Salvato was also the author of a short horror story about a 19-year-old girl who murdered someone just to find out how it felt. This story was posted online anonymously in 2015, but was included in yuri.chr as an easter egg.
